Prof. Dr. Abdulcebbar Kavak graduated from Van Atatürk High School in 1986/1987 academic year. He completed his undergraduate education at Ankara University Faculty of Theology in 1992. In the same year, he started his master's degree at Ankara University, Institute of Social Sciences, Department of Islamic Law. Between 1992 and 2012, he worked as a teacher and administrator in secondary education institutions affiliated to the Ministry of National Education. In 2012, he started to work as a lecturer at the Faculty of Islamic Sciences at Ağrı İbrahim Çeçen University. In 2013, he completed his doctorate with the thesis titled "Mevlânâ Khâlid-i Bağdadî and the Historical Development Process of the Khalidi Sufi Tradition" at Atatürk University, Institute of Social Sciences, Department of Sufism. In 2013, he was appointed as Assistant Professor in the Department of Sufism, Faculty of Islamic Sciences, Ağrı İbrahim Çeçen University. He received the title of Associate Professor in 2017. Between 2013 and 2020, he served as the Head of the Department of Basic Islamic Sciences and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Sciences. Between 2014-2020, he worked as the director of Ağrı İbrahim Çeçen University Mevlânâ Halid-i Bağdadî Application and Research Center. He served as a member of DDK at TUBITAK between 2016-2017. As of February 2020, he started to work as an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Islamic Sciences at Karabuk University. He received the title of Professor in 2022. He is still working as a lecturer at Karabuk University, Department of Basic Islamic Sciences, Department of Sufism. He continues his duty as the Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Sciences at Karabuk University, where he was appointed on February 1, 2023.
He teaches Sufi History, Sufi Psychology, Sufism and Society, Sufi Tradition in Anatolia, Sufi Philosophy Texts, Kalam Sufi Relationship in Sufi undergraduate and graduate education in the field of Sufism. He has scientific studies in Turkish, Arabic and English as books, articles and papers.
